Luis Gutierrez (pictured right) called into Mother Lode Job Training's Calaveras office
requesting to use our computer and internet to complete his pre-employment testing. Luis had recently applied with the Calaveras Unified School District (CUSD) for both Driver and Custodian positions, and needed to do the required pre-employment training. Luis does not own a computer or have Wi-Fi at his residence, so MLJT Calaveras set appointments for him to come in and use our computer lab.
Luis had 13 virtual trainings he needed to complete prior to his second interview, and after 2.5 days of computer lab use, was able to complete all of his required training. MLJT was able to print out his training certificates and give him a folder to keep all of his documents.
Luis had his second interview with CUSD on July 1, 2021 with the intention of full-time employment with Calaveras Unified School District.
Each one of our centers is equipped with Wi-Fi, printer, fax and telephone for contacting employers. In addition, our library is complete with career information and handouts, information on local colleges and training providers, sample resumes and community resources. Individuals do not need to be enrolled to use our job center computers. If you are someone that needs the means and equipment for assistance with job attainment, call your local job center to schedule time to come in and use our computer lab.
Job Opportunities with Harrah's Northern CA
Harrah's Northern California in Ione, CA and Mother Lode Job Training in Sutter Creek, CA have been in continuous partnership bringing job seekers and employers together to strengthen our small community. Harrah's Northern California is hiring for many different positions and are even giving new employees a $500.00 hiring bonus!
The next Food & Beverage Virtual Job Fair will be held Wednesday, July 7th for on-the-spot job offers! Log in times for the virtual job fair will be at 10:00AM-12:00PM and 2:00PM-4:00PM via Zoom. To be sent a Zoom link to attend, you will need to register online. Available positions include Sous Chef, Bartender, Food Server and more!
Employees are given benefits such as health benefits, paid time off and special discounts.

Sonora Hiring Event on July 8th & 9th
With the state of California re-opening, many employers in the Mother Lode have been searching for qualified applicants. Staff at Mother Lode Job Training (MLJT) saw the need and developed a plan.
On June 25th, MLJT hosted its first in-person hiring event since the pandemic began, featuring 3 employers. During the event, 24 job seekers were served, employers received 6 applications and made 2 on the spot employment offers, from applicants they otherwise would not have reached.
With the popularity and success of the pilot event, MLJT planned a larger event to feature 8 employers. This event is scheduled for July 8th and 9th from 10:00AM-2:00PM and will feature employers offering on the spot interviews and job offers.
